Frequently Asked Question

ART

What materials do you use for the originals?

Originals are painted with artist’s acrylic paint on canvas. They are stretched around moisture-stabilised wooden frames. Finished with at least three coats of water-resistant and uv-resistant laminate.

What materials do you use for the Giclée prints?

All acid free materials used. Conservation quality framing. Pigment inks. All canvas prints are printed on high quality water resistant canvas, the hand finishing is with the same acrylics as the original, finally laminated with water resistant/uv laminate. These will last longer than you do! If you order “Stretched”, the frames have rounded leading edges so there is no cracking as the canvas is stretched around them. Finished with tape and hanger wire, ready to adorn your wall.
When ordered on paper, archival fine art cotton rag paper is used. They come ready to frame, mounted with a white mat, and shrink-wrapped for protection. Paper prints are not hand finished.

This is too big for my wall – can you create a smaller Giclée print?

Yes. Let me know the size and I will get a quote from the printer/framer for you.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Originals: I always have originals re-stretched on new frames before sending. That can take from a day to a week, depending on how busy the framer is. Then a day or two to pack them securely and process your order. Australia Post or Courier delivery, from North Queensland. So if you are in Australia, usually on your wall in 2-3 weeks. Overseas orders obviously take longer, and it depends on the freight arrangement you would like.
Giclée prints: I do not keep stock of Giclée prints – they are all printed and framed to order by a local craftsman and hand-finished by me. So about the same as above. Sometimes of course everything “lines up” and you have them quite quickly, but rather than disappoint, allow two-to-three weeks to “on your wall.”
If you have a need for quicker delivery, please get in contact. Depending on other circumstances in my life at the time, I may be able to accommodate your need.

How are they packed?

If you order a “Roll” (non-framed loose canvas) it will still be hand-finished and signed and sealed, but delivered in a tube. This will usually be quicker than the “Stretched” items. If you order a combination of stretched and rolled canvases, I may send them separately, especially if they go by Australia Post. Usually multiple Courier Delivery items will go together. Stretched items are wrapped in bubble-wrap and boxed before shipping.

Can I get a “Bulk Discount” for more than one?

It depends. The items themselves are individually hand crafted: I can’t paint them any quicker if you order more! However, often additional items can be freighted with the first one for very little extra, depending on the relative dimensions. If you are fitting out a motel or office suite etc. and you want dozens, I can look at it for you. Please use the form below to enquire.

Are the colours I see the same as what I get?

It varies. Colour reproduction on a screen is different for every monitor. We have done our best to make the images render correctly on a monitor set to “normal.” However, in practice many monitors are set to a higher colour saturation and brightness (especially the case when they are used for games). That said, so far I have not had one single painting or print returned, or even any comment about the recipient being disappointed with the colour. On the contrary, most comments are praising the vibrancy and depth of the colour. Precise colour selection is my “thing” and I do use many many different colours in every one.
